Where it came from

My daughter came up with this one: "build a tower and the monsters attack, but you shoot them." Most of what's in it came straight from her playtests and ideas - towers tall enough to reach space, bombers, zombies and mini bosses, weather, day and night, helper floors, and the tower crumbling when you lose. I'm helping bring her ideas to life.

It's a new game and still being worked out, so expect it to grow as she thinks up more.

01 how to play

  1. Pop the monsters. Hold your finger or mouse button on the island to fire the big cannon on top of the tower. It aims at the monster nearest to where you point.
  2. Spend your gems. Popped monsters drop gems. Between waves, stack more floors, put a weapon or a helper on each one, and build walls and defenses. There's no timer while you build.
  3. Pick a power. Monsters also give XP. Each time the tower levels up, you pick 1 of 3 power cards, like a bigger cannon, more hearts, or floors that shoot farther.
  4. Keep stacking. Clearing a level earns 1 to 3 stars, and the next level starts with the same tower, so it keeps getting taller. Lost a wave? Try it again from the start of that wave.

02 the tower

Stack up to 30 floors - high enough to poke out of the sky into space. Higher floors shoot farther, and from floor 8 the island grows, so bigger monsters come from farther away. Every weapon and helper upgrades from 1 to 3 stars, and Swap trades a floor's item for another one with half of what it cost taken off the price.

Walls and defenses

  • Walls: a wood fence to start, then stone, then crystal.
  • Outer Wall: a second wall, farther out.
  • Spikes: ouch! They hurt walkers that step on them.
  • Mines: go boom under walkers, and re-arm every wave.
  • Zap Fence: zaps monsters hitting the walls.
  • Tower Lights: see farther at night and in storms.

Each defense has 3 levels. When the hearts run out, the tower crumbles to the ground.

03 monsters

Monsters pop into confetti. They get tougher every wave and much tougher every level, to keep up with your growing tower.

Walkers, fast ones and tanks

The usual crowd. Fast ones start dashing on later levels, and tanks are slow but tough.

Flyers

Come in at different heights. A floor can only shoot so far above itself, so the high ones need a tall tower or Rockets.

Bombers

Fly bombing runs over the tower. Your shots can pop their bombs in mid-air.

Zombies

Come in hordes, and get back up once after being popped.

Poppers

Wobble and glow, then burst into little monsters when popped.

Blasters

Stop outside the walls and lob fireballs at the tower. Shoot the fireballs to pop them.

Kaboom carriers

Run in carrying a bomb. Pop one early and its bomb hurts the monsters around it instead of your walls.

Mini bosses and bosses

Mini bosses are big and wear a crown. Bosses come every fifth wave and on the last one.

04 worlds

Seven worlds, each with its own island, monsters, music and weather, and each with its own tower. Every world has 10 levels, from 7 waves up to 16. Clear level 3 to open Endless mode, which saves your best wave.

05 weather, night and difficulty

Weather

  • Helps you: lightning, glitches, meteors and lava rocks zap or smash the monsters. Star power and overclock make every floor shoot faster, and northern lights make it shoot farther.
  • Slows them down: rain turns the ground to mud, and blizzards make monsters trudge through the snow.
  • Gets in the way: wind blows flyers around, and fog and dust storms make floors shoot a bit shorter.
  • Both: heat waves hurry the monsters along, but your floors shoot faster too.

Night

  • Every third wave is a night wave. At night (and in dark storms), floors can only shoot what the tower's light reaches.
  • Tower Lights widen the light, and Radar floors see in the dark.

Difficulty

Pick it on the title screen, right under PLAY. Your stars, best Endless wave and tallest tower are saved in your browser.
